Primary school children help to plan sculptures for new woodland

St.Albert’s, Mab Lane, and St.Brigid’s primary schools will all be working with artist John Merrill at the start of December, with the children helping to plan three sculptures for the new woodland.

The final pieces will then be created in the New Year.

Community woodland update

Work has now started on site to develop the new Mab Lane Community Woodland, new footpaths will provide easy access to the woodland which will include over 20,000 new trees, alongside open grassland, wildflower meadows, a community orchard and seasonal wetland areas.

The contractors working on site over the next few months are UPM Tilhill. See their website for more information about the work they do.

Over time, Mab Lane Community Woodland will become a vibrant, beautiful place for local people to exercise, relax or simply enjoy the natural environment. The Project is being delivered by a partnership of organisations which includes the Northwest Development Agency, Forestry Commission, Big Lottery Fund, Riverside, The Mersey Forest, Liverpool City Council and the local community.
